2016 Waltzing Matilda Day

The programme for the 2016 Waltzing Matilda Day, was held in Winton on Wednesday 6th April is was follows:

WALTZING MATILDA DAY 2016
Programme

9am
*Official opening of Waltzing Matilda Day by Cr Judy Sale
* All present sang Waltzing Matilda, the Winton Way
*Australia Through Poetry with guest Russell Plunkett
 

10am
*A guided tour of the Winton District Historical Society displays, with local Wintonites showing us the old telephone exchange and some early vehicles

10:45am
*Morning tea

11:15am
*Try your hand at spinning local Winton wool

12 noon
*Illustrated public talk in the Sarah Riley Theatrette on Banjo's Winton in 1895

12:30pm
* Educational snake show and bush poetry with Ron Pearce


1pm
* Have a go at Whip Cracking. Whips supplied or bring your own. An educational show where the audience is invited to learn how to crack a whip.

*Close.

The Winton Visitor Information Centre on 1300 665 115 can provide tour ideas, look after accommodation and offer good old fashioned bush information.
